Rose Atieno, better known on TikTokers as Nyako, has voiced her dissatisfaction following the government’s freezing of her bank account.
She says that some people who detested her on social media reported her to the authorities for unclear reasons.
Since losing her job earlier this year, Nyako—real name Rose Atieno—has been generating income from her TikTok account. She claims that her primary source of income when she went live on the app was getting gifts from her fans.
She was recently left stranded and unable to pay for her rent and insurance, though, as her bank account was blocked. She fears that because of problems with her tax compliance, the government may have taken action against her.
Nyako described her ordeal in a TikTok video, blaming the same people who made her lose her job. She claimed that after a letter was sent to her place of employment, she was fired the next day.
“My bank account has been blocked. I cannot access it. It has been blocked. I don’t know who wrote what again to the government this time. I have to pay my rent from TikTok.
I have to pay my insurance from Tick, Tock. That money has been taken away. I don’t even know where to start at this point. I don’t know who to ask what.
The same people who made me lose my job. I used to go to work. I used to wake up very early in the morning like everybody else and go to work.
I was very much contented and happy with my job until the same people on TikTok came together to deny me the right to go to work. Somebody wrote a letter to my workplace. And I lost my job within 24 hours,” she said.
