Uhuru to hold Mega Interview With Kikuyu Vernacular Stations today

On Sunday, August 7, supporters of Deputy President William Ruto criticized President Uhuru Kenyatta’s choice to give an interview to local stations that broadcast in Kikuyu.

Uhuru would be speaking to the Mount Kenya region in a special joint interview beginning at 6 p.m. on Sunday evening, according to a number of radio and TV stations.

The meeting would be streamed live on a number of stations, including Coro FM, Wimwaro FM, Gukena FM, Inooro FM, Inooro TV, and Meru TV.

Kenya Kwanza representatives blasted the action, claiming it was a political ploy designed to give the Head of State more time to assist Raila Odinga, the Azimio presidential candidate.

Irungu Kang’ata, a senator from Murang’a, requested that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) conduct an investigation.

“Dear Chebukati, Azimio chairman intends to violate this law today. I have annexed the evidence of the intention. I hereby formally inform you of that intention and, if the intention is actualised, please take action,” wrote Kang’ata.
