ODM’s Wycliffe Oparanya endorses Cleophas Malala for Kakamega Governorship

There have been conflicting reactions to an apparent endorsement of Cleophas Malala by UDA governor of Kakamega, Wycliff Oparanya, in a post on his Facebook page.

Oparanya, who is a member of the Azimio la Umoja One alliance, has backed Fernandes Barasa of the ODM party.

In an unexpected turn of events, Oparanya put a picture of Malala on his facebook page at 9:00 am along with the hashtag “#VoteCleopphasWakhunguMalalah.”

His verified Facebook profile has 140 followings and 99,000 followers.

Oparanya, however, has refuted the message and asserted that his Facebook page was hacked.

“This is to NOTIFY the general public that my Facebook page has been hacked by agents of doom.

IGNORE any post on my Facebook page as we await @DCI_Kenya to handle the matter and restore it,” he said on his twitter handle.”

However a quick check by Mkenya Leo confirms that the Endorsement post has not been deleted on Facebook.

This occurs after the IEBC declared the date for holding the election in the other wards, constituencies, and counties on the day Kakamega inhabitants elect their governor.

After there was a mix-up with the ballot papers in Mombasa and Kakamega counties, the IEBC postponed the poll.
