Mwanaisha Chidzuga elated after landing a gov’t job

Mwanaisha Chidzuga, the new deputy government spokeswoman, has welcomed her appointment, saying it is an honor to be entrusted with the top government role.

Chidzuga, who was named to the role on Wednesday, expressed appreciation and a strong sense of honor.

“It is an honour to be entrusted with this duty, and I am humbled by the opportunity to serve my country in this manner,” the renowned media personality said on her social media accounts.

Soon after Head of Public Service Felix Koskei announced her appointment, Chidzuga extended her appreciation to President William Ruto “for placing his faith in her.”

“Your unwavering commitment to promoting diversity and inclusivity in leadership is truly commendable. This appointment represents a significant milestone, not only in my career but also in the broader context of gender equality and women’s empowerment,” she said.

Ruto appointed her to the position when he reshuffled Cabinet Secretaries, principal secretaries and ambassadors.

Ruto also appointed former Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura as the government spokesperson who will also be deputised by Gabriel Muthuma.

Chidzuga will be tasked with assisting Isaac Mwaura in communicating government policies and initiatives to the public through various media channels among other duties.

Born in Kwale County, the outspoken news anchor attended Ziwani Primary School before transitioning to Kenya High School, becoming the first girl in the area to attend a national school.

She later graduated with a degree in public relations from Moi University.

Her media career started at Pwani FM where she admitted that she landed her first on-air job as a news presenter and DJ by chance. At the time, she had accompanied a friend to the audition but ended up bagging the job.

She later moved to KBC before cementing her TV profile at the Kenya Television Network as a presenter.
