“Mchague mwenye mnataka huko juu” Kiraitu Murungi gives up on campaigning for Raila

Meru County Governor Kiraitu Murungi has advised Meru citizens that they should vote for anybody they choose for president, but that they should elect him as their governor in the August 9 elections.

Murungi said he will collaborate with whoever wins the presidential seat during a Meru Campaign visit on Saturday.

“Ruto akiingia atapatia Kiraitu pesa kwa sababu yeye ndiye Governor. Raila akiingia atapatia Kiraitu pesa akiwa Governor. Kwa ivo huko juu pigieni mwenye mnataka,” he said.

Murungi, on the other hand, stated that he and his wife will vote for Raila and that he has not and will not force anyone to vote for a presidential candidate.

“Where has Kiraitu ever forced people to support Raila? What I have said is that my wife and I will vote for Raila. There is democracy and freedom of choice.”

The Devolution Empowerment Party (DEP), led by Kiraitu, joined the Azimio la Umoja Coalition earlier this month.

“We have done the research, talked to opponents and listened to confidential reports,” Kiraitu said.

He went on to say that he believes Raila will become the fifth President of Kenya.

“I can confidently tell you that the fifth president of Kenya is no other than Raila Odinga. DEP will work with Azimio Movement for a better Kenya,” he added.
