Raila Odinga To Investigate DP Ruto’s Wealth if He Becomes President

If he wins the election on August 9, presidential candidate Raila Odinga of Azimio La Umoja has vowed to look into the riches of Deputy President William Ruto.

Speaking to Taita Taveta locals on Tuesday, July 12, Raila questioned the legitimacy of Ruto’s land ownership in the nation.

Despite the DP’s allegation that Ruto legitimately purchased the land from former Taveta Member of Parliament Basil Criticos, he asserted that Ruto had illegally acquired 2,500 acres of land in Taveta Sub County.

Azimio wants the government to regain ownership of Ruto’s Taita Taveta land and other supposedly controversially acquired areas.

“He keeps on saying that Criticos has issues servicing a loan and he rescued him. In return, Criticos gave him the 2,500 acres. Is 2,500 acres just a piece of land worth brushing off?

“Why didn’t he purchase land from thousands of landlords in this area, then allocate the land to squatters?” Raila wondered.

“He has diverted all the water to his farm. Our strict Martha Karua will handle the issue as DP,” MP Junet Mohamed claimed.

Hassan Ali Joho, the governor of Mombasa, assembled the Azimio brigade to conduct an investigation.

“We will investigate Ruto. The land will be reverted back to the local community. When we take over the government in August, we will repossess the land belonging to the DP.

“We will also probe the owner of the land who sold it to Ruto. Why didn’t he sell the land to locals?” Joho said.
