Kanini Kega cries fouls after his PA is jailed over questionable assault charges

Kanini Kega, the Kieni MP’s personal assistant, spent the weekend in jail due to what appeared to be a mix-up with the charge sheets that would be used in court.

Dickson Mwangi was charged with assault under circumstances for which Kega is now placing blame on the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji, and was thus had to spend the weekend at King’ong’o Prison in Nyeri.

Kega claims that his PA was detained and charged without any legal due diligence being done.

According to records from the Nyeri Law Courts, Mwangi (pictured) was detained on July 8 and brought into court right away on charges drafted by the Office of the Director of Prosecutions.

He was shown to Nyeri Principal Magistrate James Macharia right away, and he remanded him there until today, when his trial is scheduled to begin.
