Fredrick Muitiriri: The story of police officer who’s now a news anchor at NTV

Fredrick Muitiriri, the news anchor for TV47, has been recruited by NTV to join its roster of media figures at the Nation Media Group.

Former police officer Muitiriri had just been working at TV47 for five months when NTV called.

Verified reports state that Muitiriri will provide the Swahili briefing on NTV, but his scheduled time slot has not yet been determined.

After departing from the National Police Service in 2007, the journalist’s second act has become the media.

Muitiriri, however, has always had a talent for the fourth estate and used his time as a police officer to gather money to attend media school.

The anchor joined the Kenya Institute of Mass Communications after hanging up his boots, laying the groundwork for his future in the media.

“I finished school in 2011 and got a contract with an online magazine for three months but I did not like the job. I found another job at a radio station in Nakuru, Hero FM, where I hosted a breakfast show for three months but disagreed with a contractual agreement and left,” he said in a past interview.

In 2013, Mutuiriri made the switch to Standard Media Group and was chosen to temporarily take Anthony Ndiema’s place at Radio Maisha while he was out of the office.

After working for Standard Media Group, the anchor was hired by the local television network Inooro TV, where he worked till 2018.

He eventually moved to Switch TV in 2020, where he delivered the English newscast.

He received an invitation to join TV47 in January 2022, however the station closed down its broadcast division in December 2021.
