Ex-Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi elected Senate speaker

Amason Kingi, a former governor of Kilifi, has been elected as the speaker of the senate.

Kingi was chosen on Thursday because he received an absolute majority of votes—46 out of the 67.

Shortly after Kalonzo Musyoka resigned from the contest, he was elected.

Kenneth Lusaka, who was elected Governor of Bungoma County, will be replaced by him.

Kingi succeeds Ekwe Ethuro and Lusaka as the third speaker of the Senate.
