President-elect William Ruto reported this morning that he spoke with President Uhuru Kenyatta on the phone.
In his address to the nation, Ruto, whose victory in the most recent presidential election was on Monday upheld by the Supreme Court, said he hadn’t spoken to Uhuru in months.
While addressing at his Karen residence, Ruto announced his plans to call President Kenyatta.
“I will shortly be putting a call to my good friend President Uhuru Kenyatta. We haven’t spoken in months. I will call him shortly so that we can have a conversation on the process of transition. I know he worked hard in his way but the people of Kenya have made their decisions,” Ruto said in part.
Adding;
“When I decided to support Uhuru Kenyatta I did not give him any conditions. I take no offense that he chose to support someone else. We will continue being friends; we look to take Kenya to the next level.”
The President-elect, however, recently stated in a message across all of his social media channels that he had since spoken with Uhuru about transition-related issues.
“I had a telephone conversation with my boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta. We discussed the just concluded General Election and the transition as envisaged by our democratic tradition and practice,” Ruto shared.
