Former Deputy President and Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has added a new Toyota Prado to his campaign fleet after receiving the vehicle as a gift from businessman and lawyer Mugambi Imanyara.
The handover took place on Sunday during a brief ceremony, where the vehicle was blessed by a pastor before the keys were officially presented to Gachagua. According to Imanyara, the Prado was donated by supporters from Meru who wanted to facilitate the former Deputy President’s growing schedule of political engagements across the country.
Imanyara said the gift was intended to improve Gachagua’s mobility as he continues meeting supporters in different regions ahead of the 2027 General Election. He also noted that the donation reflected solidarity from supporters following previous incidents in which some of Gachagua’s vehicles were reportedly damaged.

Speaking after receiving the vehicle, Gachagua expressed gratitude to those who contributed towards the donation, describing it as a show of confidence in his political mission.
The new Prado is expected to support his extensive campaign tours, which have intensified since his departure from government. In recent months, Gachagua has held rallies, consultative meetings and engagements with religious leaders, business communities and local politicians in several parts of the country, including the Mt. Kenya region, Nairobi, Western Kenya, the Coast, Eastern and the Rift Valley.
His nationwide tours have also seen him collaborate with other opposition figures as discussions continue over the formation of a united coalition ahead of the next General Election. The opposition has repeatedly indicated its intention to field a single presidential candidate to challenge President William Ruto in the 2027 polls.
Political observers expect Gachagua’s public engagements to continue increasing in the coming months as political alignments ahead of the election take shape
