After allegedly murdering his girlfriend and escaping to Kenya, a Kenyan man is wanted in the United States.

Margeret “Maggie” Mbitu’s body was discovered in a car in a Boston Logan Airport garage.

According to reports, the Massachusetts State Police have launched a manhunt for the main suspect in the murder in coordination with Kenyan authorities.

Ms Mbitu had been missing for several days before her body was discovered in an airport garage. The man, 40, is suspected of boarding an aircraft from Boston to Kenya.

The victim was allegedly stabbed by the boyfriend, who is now wanted after an arrest warrant was issued.

Ms Mbitu was last seen leaving her Halifax employment on Monday night, the same day she was arrested.

“Maggie was last seen at 11 pm on Monday, October 30th in Halifax leaving work. She was wearing black pants with a gray shirt and a black cardigan. Her straight black hair was in a ponytail and she was driving a white Toyota Venza,” read the Missing person’s poster shared by Ms Mbitu’s friends on Facebook.

Her car was later found parked inside the Central Parking garage at the airport on Wednesday.

Detectives are piecing together a timeline of her last moments using video surveillance as they continue to track down the main suspect in her murder.

According to Mbitu’s family, their daughter was trying to end her alleged relationship with the 40-year-old man who is believed to have killed her.

“The entire family, everybody is down, I’m not myself right now…This is heartbreaking,” Mbitu’ mother told Boston 25 News.

The mother added that police searched Mbitu’s room looking for clues.

The late Mbitu worked at BAMSI based in Brockton and the organization has mourned her with a message that says;

“She was warm, caring, and loved by everyone she worked with, both staff and the people she cared for in our group homes,” BAMSI said.

“As an agency, we are in mourning over the loss of such an amazing young woman.”

The late Mbitu’s friend said; “It’s just very, very, unfortunate that somebody would choose to do what they have done,”

“It’s definitely such a great loss to the parents, to her relatives, and to the community at large and I would say to the nation.”
