Rachel Ruto and Dorcas Rigathi must be the happiest women on earth now.

Their husbands, William Ruto and Rigathi Gachagua were pronounced the winners of the just concluded August 2022 elections.

Ruto and Gachagua are now president-elect and deputy president-elect, respectively, until they are sworn in to assume their responsibilities officially.

While the county is still digesting Ruto and Rigathi’s win, Kenyans can’t stop being mesmerized by their wives, Rachel and Dorcas, who will be first-lady and second first-lady once their husbands are sworn into office.

1. They are very powerful prayerful women.

Proverbs 18:22 says, “he who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor from the Lord.” Well, Rachel and Dorcas must be the reason their husbands are successful, despite hailing from humble backgrounds. The women are very prayerful and they do not shy away from showing the world how prayerful they are. In fact, they are ministers of God’s gospel. Dorcas is a pastor of one of the biggest churches in Kenya. Rachel’s ministry involves educating women about God’s kingdom.

They have been instrumental in their husbands’ win because they held numerous prayer meetings to pray for their candidacy and Kenya.

2. They are dedicated wives

One clear thing about Rachel and Dorcas is how they support their husbands and family. In an interview with Rev. Kathy Kiuna on Women Without Limits years back, Rachel revealed that she had to leave her flourishing teaching career in Nairobi in 1997 to move to Eldoret, where her husband was vying for the Eldoret North Member of Parliament seat.

She explained that her husband (Ruto) was a first-time politician and people feared that he was too young; thus, she had to join her husband in Eldoret to prove that he was a mature and family man.
Similarly, Dorcas has been instrumental in her husband’s successful business. She has helped him build the company, which she still manages to date. She also had to quit her banking career to manage her husband’s businesses. Rigathi has severally accredited her as his rock and biggest cheerleader.

3. They are Excellent Public Speakers

Well, these women can talk, and you will never get tired of listening to them. As preachers, they have mastered the art of capturing and maintaining the audience’s attention throughout a talk. They are humorous, and their lively nature is what moves the crowd.

It seems we are going to have the most stylish first lady and second lady since Kenya earned her independence in 1963. Rachel and Dorcas do not disappoint when it comes to glamming up. They maintain low make-up, less flashy accessories, and simple but classy dressing.
