Janet Mbugua Earns A New Spot at Citizen TV, A few Years After Quitting
Janet Mbugua, a former Citizen TV anchor, is preparing to make a comeback at her previous workplace, hosting her own show.
The Rewrite Her Story show will air every Sunday at 6 p.m., according to a promo that ran on the channel operated by Royal Media Services LTD (RMS) on Wednesday, June 8.
The second season of the show will focus on gender equality and children’s issues.
Janet Mbugua is beaming after the publication of her book, My First Time.
“This is Rewriting Her Story season two. We will be coming to you from different regions in the country, Homabay, Tana River, Kwale, and more. Pushing for gender equality, insisting on child protection so that our children are able to grow in a safe and conducive environment.
“Allowing them to tell their stories without having to rewrite them. Join me every Sunday on Citizen Tv at 6 pm,” she stated.
Previously, season one, which was a five-part show – was aired on Citizen TV and used to air on Sundays at 2 pm.
Further, the journalist announced that the show was a partnership done between her foundation, Inua Dada, and Plan International.
The announcement came hours after Mbugua presented her book, My First Time, a book seeking to promote menstrual health awareness among girls to the First Lady Margaret Kenyatta.
“My First Time aims to challenge period stigma, raise awareness on period inclusivity, and make a case for menstrual justice, through the varied and diverse stories of first accounts featured in the publication.
“Thank you all for continuing to engage on the need to uphold human rights and for supporting the project,” she described her book.
Upon leaving Citizen TV as a news anchor in 2017, Mbugua focused her energy on her foundation which she has used in promoting gender equality and mentorship of the girls.
She also hosted the Here and Now show which focused on leadership and social issues on NTV.
