REVEALED! Here’s Why Goldalyn Kakuya’s KCSE Grades Have Not Been Made Public

Goldalyn Kakuya made news in 2017 when she received 455 points in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education Exam, making her the best applicant.

Kenyans who remembered her four years later awaited the announcement of the 2021 KCSE results by Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha on Saturday, April 23. That was not the case.

Kakuya, who had been accepted to Kenya High School, did not sit the KCSE in 2021, according to media reports.

After switching from the 8-4-4 to the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) system, the 2017 KCPE champion is now a student at the Brookhouse School.

Following her outstanding performance, First Lady Margaret Kenyatta offered Kakuya a scholarship, which she accepted. The top student dropped out of Kenya High and enrolled in Year 10, which was the equivalent of her 8-4-4 class.

Even with the new IGCSE system, she continued to perform academically. In 2020, she finished second in the school’s Year 11 exams, trailing only Sean Theuri.

Goldalyn received outstanding grades in the year’s exams, earning eight A*s and two As. Students can choose from nine subjects, with Math, English Language, English Literature, and at least one science subject being required.

Eric Mulindi, the head teacher of Brookhouse Schools, praised the performance, calling it a team effort by the children and staff.

“Our little girl is still topping in her class with straight As. I am glad to have been her destiny connector to study at the prestigious Brookhouse School courtesy of the First Lady Margaret Kenyatta after we took her to meet the President. Truly proud of her,” Mwaura wrote.
