Vera Sidika: I can’t advice people on relationship, my marriage failed

Vera Sidika, a socialite and reality TV star, recently touched upon her unsuccessful marriage with singer Brow Mauzo while revealing that she is currently in a relationship with a Nigerian man.

During a conversation with Mpasho, Vera was asked to share some relationship advice for individuals in a romantic relationship.

hesitant due to her past marriage with Mauzo, she eventually provided insights on key aspects that couples should prioritize for a successful and fulfilling relationship.

Ms Sidika replied; “You are asking for relationship advice from me when I have had a failed marriage.

“But just be happy and don’t overthink it or stress. Don’t go through your partner’s phone. We grew up in a family where we were being told not to touch our partner’s phone. Let it ring a million times but don’t touch it.

A few months ago, Vera let netizens in on her views on marriage since parting ways with the father of her children, singer Brown Mauzo.

Opening up during an interactive Question and Answer session on her Instagram, The Real Housewives of Nairobi reality TV star began by asserting that she would never commit to a marriage again, dismissing it as a trap.

“Would you still give marriage a chance?” asked a fan, to which she responded, “Never, it’s a trap, I love my freedom.”

According to the seasoned singer, breaking off her marriage was the best decision she ever made for herself and her kids adding that she is genuinely and happily living her life now.

“Are you genuinely happy? Wish you all the best in everything,” quizzed another fan.

“Won’t lie, the happiest I’ve ever been. I love being single to be honest,” Vera responded.

Touching on how she coped with the break-up, Vera explained that she had mentally, emotionally, and physically checked out of her marriage months before she verbally expressed her desire to leave.

“For me, it was four months over before it ended. I was done emotionally, physically, and mentally. So it was easy and the best decision I have ever made. I chose me and wanted the best for my kids,” she explained.

Brown Mauzo on Vera Sidika Breakup

In an interview with a local daily, Mauzo revealed that his relationship with Vera ended in June 2023, with the official announcement of the breakup made in August 2023.

The singer disclosed that before the ultimate separation, he had left the marriage on several occasions due to various reasons that did not align with his desires.

Despite the complexities, he expresses no regrets, emphasizing the positive aspects of the relationship that brought two beautiful children into their lives.

“It was a great marriage, marked by actions that surpassed anything I had experienced before. Vera did things that surprised and amazed me,” he said as quoted by NTV Kenya.

Mauzo acknowledged that both himself and Vera Sidika bore responsibility for the end of their marriage.

“Several factors played a role in the breakdown of the marriage. Throughout the relationship, as time passed, familiarity set in,” he explained.

“After being together for over a year, you become accustomed to each other. For instance, actions that initially seemed intimidating might be perceived as a change in the other person. Everyone has their vulnerabilities, but when it appears that the other person is not meeting expectations, it can lead to fatigue in the relationship.

“This was exactly what happened. Moreover, life often signals that there might be better alternatives outside of the current relationship.”
