UDA MP Gazetted By IEBC as Duly Elected in August 9 Polls

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission announced the names of three politicians before the next general elections on August 9 and Kemei is one of them (IEBC).

Beatrice Kemei, a woman who will be the next representative for Kericho County in the National Assembly, has been formally elected to serve on the UDA ticket.

The other two are Sabena’s future MCA Issa Aden and Julius Kimutai, who represents Ravine Ward as a Member of the County Assembly (MCA) on the UDA ticket (National Agenda Party).

The three were deemed legitimately elected as they faced no opposition in their respective races after receiving the party’s nomination.

Koskey Florence Chepngetich, who has represented the county in the legislature since she was chosen in 2017, will be replaced by Kemei.

The politician, known as Chebabai (The Happy One) in popular culture, defeated five rivals in April who were vying for the UDA party candidacy. She received 87,182 ballots.

After beginning her political career in 2017 when she lost the Woman representative seat to Koskey, this is Kemei’s second effort at electoral politics. The Party of Democracy and Reform was her running mate (PDR).

In a previous interview, she said: “I maintained in touch with the electorate and whenever called upon, I would join in various socio-economic initiatives.
