“My Friends Ran Away After I Lost Job” – Jimmi Gathu Shares Painful Experience

Media personality Jimmy Gathu has opened up about how his life took a turn for the worse after he lost his job in 2016.

Gathu, who worked as a radio host for Nation FM, was laid off in 2016 at the peak of his career.

The journalist admitted that when he called out for help to his pals on Spice FM, where he is a radio host, a part of his friends made fun of him.

He went on to say that sometimes individuals are drawn to you only because of what you have to offer.

“I was declared redundant in 2016 at the height of my game, let me tell you some people are drawn because of what you can give them so once what you can give them disappears you become less useful,” he narrated.

Gathu told how he awoke to a typical business day, unaware that he would be sent home later that day.

“At 4:30 in the morning I kissed my kids goodbye and told my wife I was going to work, at 8:30am that morning I didn’t have a job,” Gathu stated.

He went on to say that he had to shave his head bald due to the grey hair that had started to grow all over his head.

Gathu, who had been jobless for nearly six years, advised individuals in positions of power to be humble since things can change at any time.

Jimmy Gathu, on the other hand, just joined Standard Media Group to present a radio show called Jimmy Gathu Live, which airs every Saturday from 2:00pm to 7:00pm on Spice FM.

The senior journalist was named the Musalia Mudavadi Centre’s media relations officer in July 2019.

The former Citizen TV news anchor had been tasked with coordinating and managing all media relations for Hon. Musalia Mudavadi, including interviews and press appearances, but he no longer holds the post.

Gathu made a brief appearance on television on March 18, 2021, as the host of Doctors’ Practice, a show that used to air on KTN.

The one-hour conversation show covered a variety of health topics from four angles: insurance, nutrition, care and treatment, and pharmacy.
