On Sunday, July 17, social media was flooded with rumours that Amina Mohamed, the sports cabinet secretary daughter ,’s was traveling with a group to Oregon, US, for the world athletics championships.
A number of online users accused the CS of failing to handle Ferdinand Omanyala’s visa issue, who is Kenya’s star sprinter.
The athlete placed fifth in the semi-finals of the current 2022 Oregon World Championships, but was unable to advance to the finals. Omanyala finished last with a time of 10:14 seconds, trailing Jamaica’s Oblique Seville (9:30), Marvin Bracy (9:93), Aaron Brown (10:06), and Nigeria’s Favour Oghene (10:12).
As a result, Kenyans have been criticizing the Ministry of Sports online for the delay that caused Omanyala to be late to the competition.
