“Siogopi kitu”: Jesus of Tongaren breaks silence over ‘crucifixion’ fears
Self-described Jesus of Tongaren now claims he is not afraid, contrary to what some on social media are saying.
Christians all across the world will be celebrating Easter to remember Jesus Christ’s resurrection from the dead after his crucifixion.
Several Kenyans believed the Bungoma deity should be executed because he has claimed to be the ‘Jesus’ in question.
In an interview with TUKO, the Tongaren Jesus said he is not aware of Easter, saying believers have misunderstood the Bible.
He quoted a handful of Bible verses to prove his point; according to him, the Easter traditionally marked in April is not anchored in the scriptures.
He said that as other believers would be marking Good Friday, he would lead the routine service at his home.
“The right Pascha is marked in July. We mark it for three days. What people are celebrating tomorrow is not in the Bible,” he said.
