Sam Gituku takes over Yvonne Okwara’s role as Citizen TV make new changes
Following Waihiga Mwaura’s resignation, Royal Media Services-owned station Citizen TV was compelled to make a few alterations to its schedule.
To fill the void left by Mwaura’s relocation to the BBC, it was announced on Tuesday that Yvonne Okwara had been shifted from Thursday’s Primetime bulletin to Tuesday.
After leaving her Thursday show (Tonight with Yvonne Okwara), Okwara will now present The Explainer with Yvonne Okwara every Tuesday at 9 PM.
On the other hand, Sam Gituku has been tasked to host the Thursday bulletin that has been rebranded to Tonight with Sam Gituku.
Gituku was hosting DayBreak every Monday and Tuesday. The changes were announced by Royal Media Services Editorial Director Linus Kaikai.
“We understand that news is no longer just news, there has to be a meaning behind news and we are responding to the needs that are arising and the challenge that is being placed on us by our audiences,” said Linus Kaikai.
Kaikai lauded both Gituku and Okwara as able journalists who will be able to deliver on their new assignments.
Just the other day, Sam Gituku also replaced Francis Gachuri on News Gang after he (Gachuri) left for a new job in CS Kithure Kindiki’s office.
