Ex-presidential candidate Reuben Kigame has spurred mixed emotions after he added his name on the ballot paper and voted for himself.
Kigame, who is also a singer and a preacher, took to his social media platform to share a photo of a ballot paper with his name added by pen. The photo also showed a tick against his name.

The post was accompanied by a caption saying,
“Finally voted at Musinaka Primary School, Luanda Constituency, Vihiga County. Let God have his way.”
Kigame had been disqualified from running for Kenya’s top seat by the IEBC after he failed to gather 2000 verifiable signatures.
He was dissatisfied with the IEBC’s decision and decided to go court. He complained that the IEBC had unfairly barred him from running since he had met all the qualifications to run.
Perhaps, his reaction to IEBC’s decision explains why he opted to add his name to the ballot paper and vote for himself.
However, his fans did not take well his reaction. Most claimed that he was acting immaturely, contrary to his religious views and the respect he has earned from people for years.
George Odandi said, “ “Is this your true account or pseudo? I don’t expect a man of God filled with Holy Spirit to behave this way.”
Steve Osogo mocked, “Tuwatu wa shingo ngumu tusamehe…IEBC was awful in this election…They did well on the online portal only.”
A while back, the High Court had ruled that IEBC should include Kigame’s name in the ballot, only for the IEBC to complain that it was too late to follow the directive because the ballot papers had already been printed.
IEBC complained that reinstating Kigame’s name to the ballot would cost close to Ksh 1 billion.
