Teacher Wanjiku, Kenya’s most popular female stand-up comedian, has divorced her ex-husband Victor Ber, with whom she has a seven-year-old kid.
According to recent reports, the comedian has moved on and is now romantically connected with digital content developer Fredrick Nyambare.
Rumors about Teacher Wanjiku’s new connection with Nyambare have circulated, driven by sightings of the couple enjoying each other’s company at numerous premium Nairobi social events.
An Instagram search reveals that Teacher Wanjiku and Ber no longer follow each other on the platform, fueling speculation about their split.
While the exact timing of Teacher Wanjiku and Nyambare’s connection is uncertain, social circles imply that their friendship has been growing for some time.
However, in May this year, Nyambare posted photos with his wife celebrating 19 years of being in love and 12 years of marriage.
In another post, a month later, in June, he wrote: “Happy 40th birthday to my best friend and the love of my life. I Love You, My Baby.”
Adding, “You are loved, my baby. We wish you good health and all the happiness in the world. I am the luckiest man in the world to have you”
Reports of Teacher Wanjiku and Ber’s separation initially surfaced last year, but the former Churchill Show producer was quick to dismiss them.
In a previous interview with a notorious gossip blog, Ber vehemently denied any trouble in their marriage, insisting that their family was still intact and thriving despite the rumors.
“There is nothing like that; we are enjoying our lives. We have survived Corona; what are you saying?” Ber rebutted at the time.
According to close sources cited by the blog, the former couple had allegedly stopped wearing their wedding rings and were no longer residing together.
In response, Ber explained that he had ceased wearing his ring because his ring finger had grown bigger, necessitating an adjustment to make it fit comfortably again.
As for Teacher Wanjiku’s missing ring, Ber claimed that she didn’t wear it during her performances as it hindered her work as a comedian.
“I can even take a picture of my finger right now, in fact, it’s only that my ring has become small, I need to get it adjusted. When my wife is performing, she cannot perform with hers, because she does act in her work,” he explained.
However, when reached out to the comedienne, she shut down those rumours and firmly said she is not obligated to tell people about her private life.
“I do not owe anybody an explanation about my personal life. I normally don’t share my personal life with anybody, I don’t see why people should meddle in that, whether we are together or not, I don’t think that is anybody’s business,” she said.
Teacher Wanjiku and Ber tied the knot in 2014 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Nairobi and welcomed their daughter, Zuri, into the world. The comedian is also a mother to Nicole, a 20-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.
