Mwaure has been chosen by Environment CS Soipan Tuya to lead the National Environment Trust Fund’s board of trustees in a gazette notification dated April 20, 2023.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 24 (3) of the Environmental Management and Co-ordination Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Forestry appoints David Mwaure to be the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the National Environment Trust Fund,” the gazette notice read.

The CS said Mwaure will work for a period of three years. He is set to begin his role as the chairperson effective April 20, 2023. Mwaure was a presidential aspirant in the August 2022 polls under the Agano party.

After the polls, he acknowledged that President William Ruto won the 2022 general elections fair and square.

“Truth be told, we were presidential candidates, we were also at Bomas. We saw the figures rolling down with our naked eyes in favour of President William Ruto, defeating the three of us, hands down,” Mwaure said.

“We instructed our chief agent to sign last Form C to confirm Ruto’s win, while others refused to.”

He added that they accepted the defeat and approved Ruto as the President.

However, he questioned why some candidates are still insisting that Ruto didn’t win yet his victory was validated by the Supreme Court.
