Governor Amos Nyaribo revealed in a statement that Nyamira county assembly majority leader and Nyamai Ward MCA Elijah Osiemo died in a fatal traffic accident.
According to the Governor, the accident happened on Monday afternoon along the Maai Mahiu-Naivasha Road.
He was accompanied by Nyamira Township Ward MCA Duke Masira, who also serves as the Assembly’s Deputy Majority Leader, and Nominated MCA Priscillah Nyatichi.
“The two members of the County Assembly have been rushed to Naivasha Level Four Hospital for treatment and stabilization awaiting doctors’ advice,” Nyaribo said in a statement.
The three were travelling to Nairobi for a meeting when the driver of the vehicle they were travelling in lost control.
The vehicle overturned into the escarpment in Mai Mahiu, Narok County.
Nyaribo has directed the immediate transfer of the deceased body to Nairobi for preservation as burial plans commence.
West Mugirango MP Stephen Mogaka in a statement said his Constituency has lost a young leader whose future was promising.
“It is with lots of sadness that I have received the news of the sudden demise of my political mentee and Nyamaiya ward MCA Elijah Osiemo. As a constituency, we have lost an important soul. I stand with the family of the honourable member in this difficult time as they mourn their kin,”Mogaka said in a statement.
