Peter Salasya, the Member of Parliament for Mumia East Constituency, has informed his supporters that he will now be charging fees for any photographs or videos taken with him.
Salasya, recognized for his dynamic presence in Kenyan politics and his engaging interactions with the public, clarified that this initiative is not solely a means of generating income.
Rather, it serves as a strategy to address the significant demand from his admirers, who often seek to document their encounters with him.
On the evening of Monday, September 2, 2024, Salasya posted a picture with three fans on his official Instagram account, indicating that he was fulfilling his duties by taking that photograph.
To pose for a photo with Salasya, he says you will now have to part with Ksh100 and Ksh150 for a video.
According to the controversial lawmaker, he takes at least 50 photos with p****e in a day, and 10 videos for his own dramas.
“I charge 100 shillings to take a photo with you, video ni 150 bob ….hapa nilikuwa mboka in a day I make photos with atleast 50 p****e and 10 videos za kipindi hehe,” Salasya stated.
The MP shared these details in his characteristic humorous style, making it clear that he sees no harm in turning his popularity into a small income stream.
Although Salasya seems to have made the post out of fun, it has sparked a mix of reactions among netizens who interact with his Instagram posts.
Some argued that the lawmaker should just now turn into a brand influencer, while claimed that it will be vice versa when the youthful MP will be seeking a re-election in 2027.
“For the last time! Kuwa tu brand influencer iishe,” an Instagram user by the name dianah_nyarotsoh wrote.
“Tukipiga picha Mumias East ni how much, juu sio bei moja na kuwa parliament 😂,” social_driller wrote.
“Umeanza ukora 😂😂za serikali hazitoshi😂,” _shaka_a reacted.
“Tunatumia hii sura kupiga picha ama Kuna ingine ya 150😂😂,” ridingphinah reacted.
