A COUPLE from the Murang’a County have found every reason to smile after good Samaritans rewarded them with a stone house after living with their children in dire poverty for years.
Peter Waweru, who has been paralyzed for many years after his illness, was living with his family in a makeshift hut. Online family came together to build Waweru and his family a dignified house and toilets.
While narrating their story to the people who attended the event, Anne Lawrence said her Waweru wife, Margaret was standing by her husband and even became the family’s breadwinner after her husband’s illness.
“This man fell ill seven years ago, and his wife has been standing with him. He has been ridiculed by the people of this community, ”he said. Waweru contracted tuberculosis and paralysis, so his wife assumed responsibility.
“He told me his hero would be his wife and if he talked about any big man, that man would be his wife,” Anne said.
The family received a nice house with furniture and according to the musician, Waweru and his wife had not engage in sexual activity for more than 18 years.
