Naomi Barongo died two months ago after going to Saudi Arabia in 2021.

Since her passing, her family members have been congregating at her home in Kisii.

Jairus Nyaboke, Barongo’s husband, claimed that she had complained about being overworked and going without food.

“She told me that she did a lot of work but with little food. She could work from morning until midnight. She also complained that her legs and hands had swollen,” Nyaboke said.

Relatives now want the body of their kin brought back for a decent burial.

The family claimed that they have sent documents to the ministry of foreign affairs but they have not yet received feedback from the Saudi Arabian embassy.

Several families have called on the government to help rescue their children from Saudi Arabia.

This is after cases of physical abuse and even deaths have been reported from the gulf nation.

Kenyan authorities have warned citizens to rigorously check recruiting agents.

The Labour ministry has been instructed to vet recruiting agents carefully.
