A 20-year-old lady is being held by police in Kakamega after she is accused of fatally stabbing her brother following a heated argument over a mattress.
The 24-year-old Oscar Shioso was killed in a struggle that starte d after he took a mattress that his sister Margaret was scheduled to use, according to the family.
Oscar’s wife Catherine Chimanwa said to Citizen TV on Sunday that she approached Margaret after the attack because she downplayed the assault and said the stab wasn’t very bad.
“I told her this is your brother and you could have just beat him up because a mattress costs only Sh 2000 but she said that she has not done much damage and the knife has not hurt him because he is still breathing,” Catherine said.
The siblings’ long-running argument, according to the family, stems from the 24-year-relationship old’s with a police officer assigned to the Shiongo patrol base.
According to rumors, Oscar forewarned his sister about the relationship, which caused resentment between the two.
The deceased’s body has been taken to the Kakamega County mortuary, and the suspect is still being held as part of the inquiry.
