Julie Gichuru, a media celebrity, turned 49 on Saturday, January 7, 2023, and reflected on some of the lessons she learned in the previous year.
In a thoughtful Instagram post, the former news anchor claimed her 48th year had been difficult, especially after losing her nephew in late 2021.
She, on the other hand, appreciated the benefits that came her way and expressed gratitude for the possibilities that life provided her.
“Every part of me is thankful to have been on this epic journey of life. My 48th year was tough, marked by our devastating loss at the end of 2021, but it was also a year of blessings – filled with grace, kindness and healing.“No one promised this life would be easy – but we must never get so lost in the loss, grief and challenge that we cannot see the blessings and give thanks for the opportunities,” she wrote in part.
Gichuru added that aging has taught her to appreciate that she does not know everything and to be less judgmental.
“As I get older I realise I know less; I ask more questions. I listen more keenly. I make less judgments. I appreciate each new day as a blessing and an opportunity to try to do my best, one more time. It is not promised and so I am thankful for each new day.”Last year, Julie revealed to her followers that she underwent a surgical procedure to correct her eyesight and around the same period, her husband was also recuperating from major surgery.
She marveled at how they took care of each other and how the window helped their love blossom.
“My darling simba also had major surgery and he is doing well too, by the grace of God. We had the opportunity to care for each other through this – what an honour to serve and help each other – to help heal, support, encourage and strengthen each other,” she wrote
