Murang’a man kills brother for stealing matumbo worth KSh 50

A 30-year-old man is being sought by police in Murang’a on suspicion of killing his older brother and stealing matumbo worth KSh 50.

The deceased, Moses Mwaura, was allegedly cut in the head with a machete by the suspect in the Sunday, September 18, incident in the village of Ihumbu, leaving him for dead.

According to Nation, their father Onesmus Nduati stated to the police that he heard a disturbance in his property and discovered the two bickering over the treat when he arrived.

According to Nduati, the suspect claimed that he purchased the meat from a nearby supermarket and set it up on a tree stump at their farm to satisfy an urge to use the restroom.

But when he emerged, he discovered that the matumbo was gone. He inferred that his 36-year-old brother was present in the compound.

The father said the suspect, who is generally quarrelsome did not want to settle the dispute in peace and attacked his brother with a panga.

“The younger son who is generally quarrelsome and with an anger as high as Mt Everest did not want to settle the dispute in peace but attacked his 36-year-old brother with the panga,” said Nduati.

Mwaura was rushed to Maragua Level Four Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

His body was transferred to Maragua Level Four Hospital pending an autopsy. The suspect is currently on the run with the murder weapon.
