Raila Odinga, the leader of Azimio la Umoja, has a meeting with destiny today, Monday, March 20.
The ODM leader is anticipated to lead hundreds or even thousands of his followers in a protest against the government.
He called on his supporters to gather in force in the city’s center, from where they would travel to State House to voice their complaints.
The former premier stated that Kenyans are sick of President William Ruto’s hollow promises and are prepared to lower living expenses by speaking a language that the government can understand.
Raila Odinga has faulted the government for using police to maliciously target his daughter Winnie Odinga during Azimio la Umoja maandamano.
“This illegitimate regime has consistently shown animosity towards my daughter Winnie, and today they wasted no time in attacking her vehicle. Such shameful conduct should not be tolerated, but we refuse to be intimidated. Ruto and his team should be ashamed of themselves,” Raila Odinga said.
Rigathi Gachagua pleads with Raila Odinga to call of demos
Raila Odinga, the leader of the Azimio, has been pleaded with to stop the continuous anti-government protests by Vice President Rigathi Gachagua.
Gachagua grieved that the economy, which had begun to improve, was being destroyed by the instability.
Speaking in Mombasa, the DP asserted that due to the pandemonium, Kenya has already lost KSh 2 billion today.
“Chaos are not good for business, I ask Raila to call off the mass action so that those who did not open their businesses today can do so,” said Gachagua.
Raila Odinga has announced that he will report President William Ruto to the International Criminal Court (ICC) over chaos witnessed during the Monday anti-government protests.
Raila accused Ruto of flouting the constitution by arresting and beating his supporters during peaceful demonstrations.
It is worth noting that Raila’s motorcade was teargassed by the police as he left Serena Hotel for Nairobi CBD.
Raila Odinga has announced that anti-government protests, which commenced today, will happen every Monday.
He said the demonstrations will continue until their demands, among others lowering the cost of living, are met.
“Wameshikwa na uoga lakini leo ni kionjo tu. Tutaendelea na maandamano mpaka bei ya unga na mafuta irudi chini,” said Raila.
