Nick Salat, the secretary general of KANU, has once again fallen short in his quest to win the Bomet East parliamentary seat.
Richard Yegon received 35,431 votes to Salat’s 13,475 votes, and Yegon was proclaimed the winner.
Kalya John, a different contender, received 987 votes.
The lawmaker, who is the son of former first Bomet MP Isaac Salat, has already made five fruitless attempts.
After ousting the then-MP Kipkalya Kones, he was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2002.
He did, however, lose the seat in the 2007 election to Kones, who made a return.
After Kones passed away in 2008, Beatrice Kones made a successful attempt at politics and won the by-election.
Salat ran for the Senate in 2013, but Wilfred Lesan, a novice, defeated him.
Christopher Langat defeated the Kanu official in the fiercely contested 2017 general election.
Salat, a close associate of outgoing Baringo senator and Kanu chairman Gideon Moi, has not yet conceded the match.
