After three years with the network, Citizen TV anchor Laura Karwirwa has announced her departure.
On Sunday, September 4, Laura delivered the bombshell during her opening remarks on the Bambika show and said that she will be leaving the station to pursue her post-graduate studies in the UK.
She thanked them for giving her the chance to appear on television with DJ Gee Gee and Timeless Noel, Daniel Githongo and James Owidhi.
“It was such an amazing moment this morning. I’m genuinely amazed at how the Lord has preserved my life. I’m amazed how He has done miracle after miracle in my life.”
“Today marks an end to this season into another which is quite intense. I’m not only leaving the show but also leaving everything; my family, friends, and country to go to England to pursue my postgraduate studies, Masters in Public Health at Oxford Brooks University. In a few days, I will be going there to begin the new season,” she stated.
Fellow gospel artists sent their emotional tributes to Laura, acknowledging her momentous career in both media and music industries. Her parents also made a surprise visit to the show.
Laura, who could not contain her emotions, shed tears during the outpouring of tributes from family, friends and colleagues.
“On behalf of everyone who loves your Ministry and the flavour that you bring to the show, we are a little sad that you’re going but we trust and know that there’s a work that God is doing in you. May He prosper you wherever you’re going,” Peterson Githinji, popularly known as Pitson stated.
Laura’s director, Saint P also acknowledged the tremendous journey she has taken to become one of the success stories and achieve their dreams at a young age.
“One thing that inspired me about her is that she is so bold in every step that she takes. I’m super proud of you,” he noted.
While addressing whether she would continue with media, Laura noted that the journey had come to an end but reiterated that her musical journey would continue after school.
” It breaks my heart a little that I will have to put the mic down literally and of course now media this is it. So, that’s the feeling that I had to make peace with. Though, music will never die in my heart hence eventually I will come and do more,” she noted.
