Gatundu Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has disclosed public a cautionary message he received from Governor Anne Waiguru’s husband Kamotho Waiganjo.

In the message, Lawyer Waiganjo cautioned the legislator to refrain from abusing his wife, stating that he should stick to matters politics when criticizing her.

“Hon Moses Kuria, stop abusing my wife. You can criticize her politics all you want but you will stop abusing my wife,” reads the message for Lawyer Waiganjo.

In a quick rejoinder, Kuria defends his statement that got the Lawyer to react, saying that he was referring to Josephine Kabura and not Governor Waiguiru.

“Relax Wakili. I was referring to Kabura not Madam. Dont mix me up with King Kaka. Ni sori. Some things don’t even warrant a response” Kuria responded.

National Youth Service

Initially Kuria had argued that the previous structure at National Youth Service (NYS) could have transformed Kenya more than the Big four Agenda combined, but unfortunately it was entrusted in wrong hands.

#KTNPointblank I sympathize with President Kenyatta. If there was a project that could have transformed Kenya more than the Big 4 combined it was the NYS as originally designed. The President meant well. Till he entrusted the program to a kleptomaniac harlot” reads Moses Kuria tweet.

The MP also expressed displeasure in Governor Waiguru’s speech about Kirinyaga County saying “Her Royal Highness The KH has declared Kirinyaga her bedroom and INSTRUCTED the County Commissioner not to allow other leaders there. Even Moi’s dictatorship never reached this level.”

The Kenya Film and Classification Board (KFCB) will not crack down on rapper King Kaka over his Wajinga Nyinyi masterpiece that on Saturday, December 14 offered a rare commentary on corruption and other vices bedevilling Kenya.

According to KFCB boss Dr Ezekiel Mutua, King Kaka enjoys the fruits of Kenya’s growing and vibrant democracy that he said are not hanging low in neighbouring Uganda and Rwanda.

Dr Mutua, instead, urged Kenyans to reflect on the message in the poetic piece that has rattled the political class and pricked the conscience of the nation.

He further directed those affected to seek redress in court as KFCB will not interfere with Wajinga Nyinyi’s production.

“King Kaka’s “Wajinga Nyinyi” new release is evidence that we are a free country. He has used his creative licence to prick our conscience. Anyone defamed can seek legal redress, but as a Board, we will not interfere with the production.

“Let people reflect on the message, but the fact that the rapper can do such production and walk scot-free is evidence that our democracy has come of age. Try that in Uganda or Rwanda and things will be different!” He stated on Facebook.

A nod for the self-styled Swahili Shakespeare who had hours earlier asked for protection following pressure from unnamed quarters.

A threat he had foreseen and cemented in the song, “Wakinisnipe tonight si mnajua ni kwa nini. Nitakufia watu mi siogopi mimi.”

In Wajinga Nyinyi, King Kaka fiercely calls out Kenyans and uncompromisingly highlights their perceived stupidity and hypocrisy when dealing with pertinent issues fracturing the society.

A position supported by Alliance of Real Change party leader Mwalimu Mohammed Abduba Dida.

“Kenya has about 50 million citizens and less than 2,000 elective positions. Ironically, when Kenyans get the opportunity to vote, they always pick the worst possible choices then spend the following five years crying. #WajingaNyinyi is a good piece of activist art. Thank you.”

Wavinya Ndeti was, however, not having it and through her Press Team accused King Kaka of character assassination.

“King Kaka must be called out, you cannot abuse elected leaders simply because you want to seek relevance, we must draw the line on content creation. You can actually pass your message without dragging anyone disrespectfully,” tweeted the former Kathiani MP.

Other leaders and personalities who shared their sentiments in the trend #WajingaNyinyi, Boniface Mwangi had to say this:

NYS money heist and the lavish lifestyle of cornered surprise millionaire

A clerk at the National Youth Service, Evans Wafula Kundu, is making headlines after amassing wealth and assets valued at more than 500 million shillings while on a monthly salary of Sh9,564 and Sh26,300.

His break-through came between 2013 and 2017 during the looting spree at NYS when Sh9 billion was lost through corruption in well-organized schemes involving dubious contracts and fictitious payments.

Wafula is among the surprise millionaires whose wealth have now attracted the attention of the Asset Recovery Agency (ARA) which has now moved in swiftly in a bid to freeze movement of the property.

While on a salary of between Sh9,564 and Sh26,300, Wafula acquired property estimated to be valued at 350 million shillings and deposited 197391968 shillings in his bank account during the NYS money heast.

His lavish lifestyle baffled many for a man earning his salary with no other known major sources of income.

Floodgates of ‘blessings’ and vast empire

From a humble beginning and living a modest living, 2013-2017 saw the floodgates of cash open for the clerk with his portfolio growing at an alarming rate.

Amog the assets he acquired at this time is a property in Runda which he bought at Sh90 million, a piece of land in Kasarani worth Sh16 million, a plot in Nakuru East valued at Sh25 million, a four-storey residential building in Njoro and 40-acres of land in Trans Nzoia town.

He also owns two plots in Kitale bought at Sh16 million, another land in Nairobi valued at Sh6 million and his palatial home in Trans Nzoia.

ARA maintains that the vast wealth are proceeds of crime as the suspect cannot explain how he acquired them.

The agency, through its lawyer Joyce Gatiri submitted that Evans Wafula Kundu”performed several roles in the fraudulent NYS transactions where he signed most of the fraudulent Local Purchase Orders and issued payment vouchers for goods not used or required by his department”.

The surprise millionaire suffered his first blow on Friday after the ARA obtained a court order stopping him, his wife Sylvia Ajiambo Onguru, daughter Millicent Matingi Kundu and their company Mojisola Limited from selling, interfering with or transferring any of the property that is the subject of investigations.

“A preservation order is hereby granted against the respondents, their employees, agents or any other person acting on their behalf from dealing in any manner with the listed property and parcels of land pending determination of the suit,” read the ruling by Justice Mumbi Ngugi.

He was among 37 suspects arraigned in court in May 2018 alongside former Youth and Gender Affairs Principal Secretary Lillian Omollo, former NYS Director General Richard Ndubai and his deputy Nicholas Ahere and charged with conspiracy to defraud NYS of millions of shillings.

The scandal also thrust the Ngirita family into the limelight after investigations linked it to the NYS looting spree.

In a move that caught many by surprise, President Uhuru Kenyatta dropped close to 400 prominent politicians, celebrities, journalists and judges from the list of those who received state commendations during the 56th celebrations of Jamhuri Day.

The list drastically reduced from 402 to just 12 individuals, catching many by surprise.

The Standard quoted National assembly speaker Justin Muturi confirming that names were removed from the list at the final minute but failed to explain why this was done.

“The final list will come out from the printer. There are names that have been removed including staff but not all. Others had errors as they were being enhanced from one level to another,” said Muturi.

The publication quoted a senior government official alleging that those dropped from the list may have been expunged due to the fact that they have been charged in courts or named in scandals.

“Some of the names in the list could not pass. It was unattainable going by the latest development where some people have been charged in court.” Said the official.

Crying foul

A vocal MP from central Kenya attributed the move to the frosty in Jubilee Party leadership, alleging that State House operatives weeded out names of individuals allied to a top government figure.

“This is the work of State House and Office of the President mandarins. It is wrong to politicise everything. If the nominating institutions settled on us, why punish us to please your master?” stated the MP.

He alleged that although some of those dropped are allies of Raila Odinga, they were merely collateral damage and were not the real targets in the radical surgery.

“The names were submitted after they were cleared by the relevant agencies. It was a long list,” said an official within the presidency.

The coveted awards are presented to indiduals for their distinguished service to humanity and Kenya.

However, they were the subject of debate during President Kenyatta’s term when controversial individuals such as Martin Kamotho, aka Githeri man and Dennis Itumbi became recipients of the awards with Kenyans questioning the criteria used to select them.
