An officer of Singer Bahati’s security team was attacked and badly injured during a political campaign rally.
Bahati, who is also vying for the Mathare Mp seat under Jubilee Party, took to his Instagram handle to announce that the officer, Evans, is a member of Mathare constituent, and he has been admitted at Komarock Modern Hospital for the past week. He revealed that he has been visiting Evans at the hospital.
His post read, “It’s Been a Tough Week; Visiting Evans #Bubuu One of My Constituents and Part of My Security Team from Mathare Who Was attacked & Injured During a Campaign Rally and Got admitted at @KomarockModern”
Weeks ago, Bahati shocked his fans when he revealed he was running for this coming August general elections.
In an interview hosted by his wife, Diana Marua, he explained that he felt he was the best candidate because he grew up in Mathare. He claimed that he had undergone the challenges people of Mathare experience; thus, he is quite knowledgeable about how to address the challenges.
He added that he wanted to solve the problems that have been persisting for years. He promised to focus on the common mwananchis’ issues, contrary to other leaders who mostly support the middle and the upper class.
His report about Evan’s attack comes when the government is seriously addressing political violence. Weeks ago, the Azimio leader, Raila’s entourage was attacked in Uasin Gishu, where he had attended Jackson Kibor’s funeral.
Several people have since been arrested since the incident happened, while the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has produced a list of words that politicians should avoid to prevent violence in political campaigns.
Here, at Mkenya Leo, we wish Evans a quick recovery.
