Award-winning Kenyan Gospel artist Kelvin Kioko aka Bahati has officially exited Azimio to join the ruling UDA party.
The singer who ran for the Mathare parliamentary seat on the Jubilee ticket in last year’s general election was welcomed to the UDA on Wednesday by the party’s general secretary Cleophas Malala.
Taking to his Social Accounts, Bahati announced that he was happy to take such a big political step.
“LOST SON 🙏 I AM HAPPY TO COME BACK HOME. I HAVE BEEN OFFICIALLY RECEIVED BY THE GENERAL SECRETARY OF THE U.D.A PARTY HON. CLEOPAS MALALA, OTHER LEADERS AND FELLOW MUSICIANS IN THE HEADQUARTERS,” he said.
The 30-year-old musician congratulated President William Ruto, the head of the UDA party, for what he claimed was providing a favorable climate for young people to flourish in this nation.
He also made a suggestion that by 2027, he will run for the party’s nomination for the Mathare parliamentary seat.
As Bahati was welcomed at the UDA headquarters, he was joined by his wife Diana Marua, fellow musician KRG the Don, and MC Jessy. He was wearing UDA clothing when he arrived at the gathering.
While ODM’s Anthony Oluoch won the Mathare parliamentary contest in the previous election, Bahati finished third.
The UDA candidate Billian Ojiwa came in second, while Bahati came third.
“I was just locked in my Home Studio making the Best Sounds of Music for you my fans since day one,” Bahati said via his Instagram feed. He noted it was the first social media break he was taking in ten years.
