Babu Owino, Mureithi Hold Prayer Meeting To End Rivalry
Prior to the election on August 9, member of parliament for Embakasi East Babu Owino and his longtime rival Francis Mureithi have decided to put their feud behind them.
During a prayer meeting in the constituency, the two, who have frequently sparred in public, were joined by their followers, senior police leaders in the region, and church members.
Babu cited a verse from the Bible to make the point that while love absolves all wrongs, hatred incites violence.
“Today my opponent and I held a successful peace and prayer meeting which brought together our supporters, DCC, police and pastors from Embakasi East republic. Proverbs 10:12 – Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs,” said Babu.
While adding that the clergy and security agencies were present to witness the deal he reached with Mureithi, Babu said that they would maintain peace throughout the campaigning and electioneering period.
At the gathering, Babu claimed that since the previous general election, in which Mureithi was also his rival, the two have not had any ill feelings and have maintained cordial relations.
