Magata Bruce Mackenzie scored 428 marks in the 2021 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education exam, making him the top student in the country.
Mackenzie was a Gilgil Hills Academy applicant.
Bruce’s father, Jared, told the media shortly after Education CS George Magoha announced the results that he had no idea his son would come out on top with 428 points.
“I expected that he would perform well but I didn’t know he would emerge the best in the country,” Jared said.
He went on to say that he wants his son to get into Alliance High School, which is his dream school.
“Aeronautical Engineering has been his dream… he is not so much into medicine,” Bruce’s father added.

“I am extremely happy. That is all I can say. I really thank God for the results,” he said.
On Monday, Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha made the announcement.
Magata was followed by Ashley Kerubo of Makini School Kibos, who received 427 points.
The overall number of students who took the KCPE exam in 2021 was 1,225,597, with 28,248 centers around the country.
According to Magoha, overall performance has improved/decreased since the 2020 exam.
The KCPE test for the year 2021 began on March 7 and ended on March 9.
Male and female candidates both performed admirably.
Candidates can obtain their results by mailing their index number, followed by the initials KCPE (in capital letters) to the address below.
A total of 315,275 candidates received a score of 300-399, while 578,197 had a score of 200-299.

Faith Mumo of Makueni county’s Kari Mwailu Primary School took first place last year with 433 points.
Nanzala Wesonga of Chogoria Girls Primary School came in second with 432 points, followed by Angel Murithi, who tied with Samuel Wanyonyi for fourth place with 431 points.
In 2020, 8,091 candidates received a score of 400 or higher, 282,000 received a score of 300 to 399, and 589,000 received a score of 200 to 299 points.
