Sandra Dacha explains how Ozempic works, says she spends 20K per session

Sandra Dacha recently opened up about her inspiring weight loss journey during an interview with Massawe Japanni on Radio Jambo.

Despite her confidence and comfort in her body over the years, she shared how health concerns prompted her to take significant steps toward achieving a healthier weight.

Using Ozempic as part of her strategy, she is determined to make lasting changes while staying true to herself.

“It costs Sh20,000 per session, and I spend Sh80,000 monthly. The only side effect I experienced was feeling full all the time. It’s not a quick fix—it will take me a year to reach my target weight of 123 kgs. I’ve never been slim; I was born weighing 6 kgs. My usual weight is around 123 kgs,” she explained.

Sandra Dacha’s Turning Point

Dacha revealed that her weight peaked at 152 kgs after the COVID-19 pandemic, attributing it to being too comfortable with her eating habits. A wake-up call from her doctor pushed her to take action.

“After COVID, I hit 152 kgs. The doctor warned me I was entering the final stages of obesity. I decided to aim for 123 kgs, which has been my stable weight since 2010. I used to eat a whole large pizza, six sausages, and four chapatis in one sitting. Now, I eat just one chapati or even half.”

How Ozempic Works

According to Dacha, Ozempic has been instrumental in her weight loss journey.

“The Ozempic pen works by making you feel full, so you can eat whatever you want, but in smaller portions,” she said.

Sandra Dacha’s Journey to Better Health

In a recent social media post, Dacha revealed she has already lost 17 kgs since starting her weight loss journey. She credited her decision to a health scare in October 2023 when she was diagnosed with pneumonia.

“I felt sick, went to the hospital, and was diagnosed with pneumonia. A nurse pulled me aside and urged me to lose weight because I had surpassed the obesity stage. She said, ‘This is the last stage of obesity—beyond this, we leave you to God.’”

This prompted her to seek help, leading her to Dr. Arshni at Tia Clinics Kenya, where she began her Ozempic journey in August.

“I started at 152 kgs, and now I’m at 135 kgs, losing about one kilo a week. I have a long way to go, but patience is key,” she shared.

Looking Ahead

Dacha aims to return to her ideal weight range of 115 to 123 kgs. She concluded by explaining why she decided to share her story now.

“I planned to share my weight loss journey after a year, but people had already started noticing. So I thought, why not talk about it now? Or am I just overexcited?”
