Veteran radio presenter Alex Mwakideu announced on Monday, August 14, that he was leaving Milele FM after five years with the station.
Taking to his social media pages, the radio star said that he had enjoyed his sojourn at the station but it was time to move on.
Mwakideu profoundly thanked fans who had been part of his journey and made him achieve remarkable success in the media industry.
“I say thank you to you listeners because without you there cannot be radio. You are the reason that we have a radio,” he remarked.
Mwakideu further thanked the colleagues he had worked with at Milele FM; the ones he had left behind and those who left before him.
“Thank you. We did it. Page closed. Onto the next one,” he signed off his last post as a Milele FM employee.
The journalist did not reveal his next move. He rather asked fans to guess where his media career would take him next.
Mwakideu has over 23 years in the media industry having secured his first job at Baraka FM, Mombasa in 2000 where he worked for a decade.
He got a major break in 2010 when he moved to Radio Maisha. He worked for Radio Maisha for 8 years before joining Milele FM.
Milele FM was the crowning of a stellar career as he was made Head of Radio.
Mwakideu made a name by co-hosting shows with Langata Member of Parliament Phelix Odiwuor popularly known as Jalang’o. They had stints at Radio Maisha and Milele before Jalang’o joined Kiss FM.
