President William Ruto has come under fire from former president Uhuru Kenyatta for recent decisions that led to the removal of members of his family’s official protection.
Speaking on Friday night, Uhuru urged the Kenya Kwanza administration to leave his family alone after learning of an alleged police raid on his eldest son’s home in Karen.
“If they want let them take my security but give me my respect,” Uhuru said.
Uhuru further stated that over the last few days, he has had security members of his mother, former first lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta withdrawn, an act he terms as suspicious.
“I have a whole minister of the government saying that he’s going to do what, I don’t know in front of my mother’s house. People who have been guarding my mother for the last almost 5o years were withdrawn at night.
“I ask myself what does this government want? The fact that I’ve been silent doesn’t mean I’m scared. Come for me,” Uhuru said.
He went on to condemn the incident saying that he’ll be taking up legal measures.
“This incident, I leave to my lawyers,” he said.
