Murang’a police are probing the death of a man who died in his lodging on Wednesday.
According to a police record obtained by Nairobi News, Fredrick Opiyo, 50, reserved a room at the Rurago bar around 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
An hour later, he was joined by a female companion identified as Mary Mwende Munyalo.
Mwende phoned the lodge’s watchman an hour later after the man began groaning while she was in the bathroom.
“At around 2200hrs, he was joined by Mary Mwende Munyalo, a Kamba female aged 35 years, where they took supper together (fish and ugali).
The man then entered the bathroom and emerged after a few minutes. He then requested the lady that’s they go to sleep, but the lady requested to first take a bath.
While taking a bath, she heard the man groaning. She came out from the bathroom and found the man had removed his clothes and was struggling to breathe. She then alerted the night guard,” the police report read in part.
According to the police report, when the watchman and the lodging attendant arrived in the room, they found the man lying dead on the bed, naked.
Detectives from Murang’a and police officers from Maragua police station who rushed to the scene found one used and two unused condoms.
In the bathroom, police recovered one empty sachet of vega 100(viagra).
The body was removed to Murang’a level V hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
