A university student’s body was discovered in his room at an apartment in Kakamega, and detectives are looking into the event.
Masinde Muliro University student Erick Siku Mambole, 21, was found dead in his hostel on June 18 at 8 p.m. after missing for three days.
As the student had not been seen for three days, the landlord of the residence notified authorities he was worried. To see how he was doing, he contacted the cops.
When police arrived on the scene, they discovered that the door was closed from the inside and forced entry.
The body was discovered on the bed by the police with foam dripping from the deceased’s mouth.
According to police, the body had no obvious wounds when it was taken from the mortuary for examination.
The death is being looked at by a team of detectives.
Over the years, students from the institution have decried insecurity after a number of their colleagues was se*ually harassed and killed.
It was reported that in a span of three months, three students have allegedly been found murdered under unclear circumstances.
The hotspot for the murders has been identified as the area around the Kefinco with different students coming out to narrate their near-death ordeals.
In another incident, Belinda Akeyo Achieng’ a fourth Year Bachelor of Education student at the Institution was found dead in her house at Lurambi Estate with blood oozing from her mouth and nether regions.
This was after she went missing and made attempts to reach her friends through a private phone number.
Although the cause of her death was never established, this highlighted the numerous cases of murders in varsities that go unsolved.
