On May 3, the Mombasa High Court issued a ruling directing Inspector General Japhet Koome to reopen the New Life International Church of Pastor Ezekiel Odero.
The National Police Service (NPS) was ordered to open the church without further delay by the High Court Judge.
Pastor Ezekiel’s attorneys, lead by Danstan Omari and Cliff Ombetta, went to the High Court and accused the government of interfering with the faithful’s freedom to freely worship without fear.
After Pastor Ezekiel was detained by police on Thursday, April 27, and charged with terrorism, indoctrinating the faithful, and other charges related to mass killings, the church was forced to close.
Additionally, he was connected to the Shakahola Forest massacre, where more than 110 bodies were discovered.
