TikToker Aq9ine now claims the entire incident was just another instance of things that never happened, a week after he went viral and was purportedly hospitalized for cooking and eating a spider.
The video producer said that a spider bit him on his way to work during an interview with Youtuber Nicholas Kioko.
“Sikukula spider, spider ndio ilinidhishi….sio kila kitu mnaona kwa social media ni ukweli… Wewe unaweza kula spider na vile iko na manywele kwa mgongo? wewe ukiwa na akili mzuri unaweza dishi kitu kama hiyo?” he said.
Aq9ine stated he was anxious after experiencing an allergic reaction to the spider bite while clearing up the narrative that dominated local headlines.
In addition, he said, “Niliumwa na spider kwa mkono…hapa, na nilikuwa naenda kazi na tulikuwa na foreman wangu, mimi hufanya kazi construction, mjengo..Niliumiwa Chogoria, kwa hardware… nikifanya video nilikuwa nimetense so hata sijui kitu nilisema.”
The creator of the content claims he was shocked to learn that the video had become popular hours later.
“Nilikuwa nahudumiwa nyumbani na Dr. Rose, kuingia kwa mtandao najiona huko Nairobi gossip nikashindwa, rada?” he added.
Aq9ine gained notoriety after posting multiple films in which he cooked and consumed a variety of foods, including a mole, a bat, and the slimy staple of Nigeria, okra.
However, it was a video in which he flaunted his swollen face while making claims that he had consumed a spider that catapulted him to national popularity and raised concerns about the lengths to which makers will go in order to attract the illusive views.
