David Osiany is the new CAS for the Ministry of Industrialization, Trade, and Enterprise Development. In the latest reshuffle by president Uhuru Kenyatta, Osiany was among the first time shot for the position.
He served as an Adviser to the former Prime Minister of Kenya on youth affairs and also worked for Oxfam GB Pan-African program as a Governance Associate. Mr. David Osiany is married to Radio personality Syombua Osiany.
David Osiany is no stranger to many Kenyans. He has served as a policy communication expert and even graced the local news TV and radio shows where he shared and taught people about policy-related issues in the country.
In 2015, David Osiany won the prestigious and competitive Chevening Scholarship, earning a Master of Science in Public Policy from the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom.
David Osiany is a consummate policy analyst and a communication specialist. Prior to his appointment, he has been running a strategic communication company Crestwood Communications, which is one of the fastest-growing PR and Communication agencies in the country
David Osiany made history by becoming the first second-year student to head Sonu in 2009/2010. The tall, dark, charming and extremely eloquent former UoN student leader spoke to Mark Kapchange about Raila Odinga and Luo politics.
David is an adventist who love getting engaged to church activities: “I am persuaded and deeply convicted of the fact that it is possible for one to retain sanity, focus, uprightness, and a sense of fair judgment even in politics. Daniel and Joseph in the Bible were Governor and Prime Minister respectively, political offices, but they remained true to their Christian principles.”
He is married to journalist Syombua Osiany Mwele. The two married in a colorful wedding that was attended by ODM leader Raila Odinga and a host of dignitaries back in September 2015.
Syombua is well known to many Kenyans since she once worked as a radio presenter at Radio Citizen owned by Royal Media Services. She hosted the popular Pambazuka Morning Show which normally aired from 4 am to 6 am.
She was employed at the radio station for over 8 years till she was unceremoniously relieved of her job last year.
She was affected by the mass firings that were happening in the year 2020 in the media industry after COVID-19 hit the country.
