Comedian Churchil Warns Ferdinand Omanyala Not To Change His Citizenship

Mwalimu King’ang’i has advised Ferdinand Omanyala against changing his Citizenship.

This was after the celebrated the 100 record holder set a world lead of 9.85 to win the men’s 100m during the Kip Keino Classic at Moi Stadium, Kasarani on Saturday evening.

Speaking about his win during the Kip Keino Classic, Omanyala says he delivered a good show as he had promised his fans

It feels nice…I promised a show and I delivered. We are just beginning the season and we have around three months before the World Championships. This was part of the preparations. All these other guys (sprints giants) are just like us Kenyans…we only just need to tap the talent,” Omanyala said.

Before a capacity crowd, which included President Uhuru Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, the Kitale-born started slowly off the blocks before pulling away from Kerley to surge home in first place.

In February 2022 Omanayala who is considered Africa’s fastest man broke the national record in 60 metres indoor again.

The Kenya Sportsman of the Year award winner clocked 6.60 seconds to win the men’s 60m dash at Meeting Metz Monselle Athlelor in Metz, France.

In the process, Omanyala broke the national record he had set eight days ago at World Indoor Tour’s Miramas Meeting where he set a time of 6.63 seconds on his debut in the 60 metres.

It is also at Miramas Indoor Meeting that he not only broke the national record once but twice. He broke the 17-year-old national record in the heats where he clocked 6.65 before dipping it further to 6.63 in the final as he finished first.

Omanyala’s time is also the fastest time run at the Miramas Stadium having eclipsed the previous record of 6.68 set by Iranian Hassan Taftian in January last year.

Currently, the African record is held by Ghanaian Leonard Myles-Mills at 6.45 seconds while American Christian Cole holds the world record of 6.34 seconds.
