It’ll take me and my army less than 2 weeks to capture Nairobi, Museveni’s son announces

Yoweri Museveni’s son Muhoozi Kainerugaba now asserts that he and his troops will be able to seize control of Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, in less than two weeks.

The declaration was made by Kainerugaba in a string of tweets the scion sent out on Monday, seemingly as a demonstration of the power he and his army wield.

He wrote, “It wouldn’t take us, my army and me, 2 weeks to capture Nairobi.”

Kainerugaba is a Ugandan military commander serving as the commander of the land forces of the Uganda People’s Defence Force and who was previously the commander of the Special Forces Command.

Kenyans who weighed into his remarks perceived them as demeaning even as others dared him to make good his threat.

In his earlier tweet that preceded the threat, Muhoozi made statements that appeared to cast aspersion on the Kenyan democracy.

The scion laughed off Kenya’s constitutional provision of presidential term limits insinuatuing that that does not work for Uganda.

“Haha! I love my Kenyan relatives. Constitution? Rule of law? You must be joking! For us, there is only the Revolution and you will soon learn about it!” he said.

Muhoozi was appointed by his father as the commander of land forces in the army in June 2021.

It was the second time Museveni was promoting his son, now aged 49, in the hierarchy of the army in a span of six months.
