Boda boda rider cries for help after losing motorcycle immediately after full loan repayment to Watu Credit

Following shortage of job opportunities in the Country, many school leavers join the industry to meet their daily needs.

Due to demand, motorbike lenders found the ground very fertile to open up their outlets.

Since the outlets are easily accessible to locals, many youths end up taking the motorbikes to start up the business where they pay Ksh15,000 as down payment, after which they are required to pay some amount to to creditor per day.

However, due to the current tough economic times, the business is currently not profitable leading to default in daily/weekly installments.

This has led to rampant impoundment of their loaned motorcycles after failing to remit the installments.

Fortunately, there are those operators who are lucky to pay the money daily without fail.

This leads us to the sad story of Quincy Otieno, a young man who is counting losses after he lost his motorbike immediately after fully repaying his loan.

Taking to his Twitter account, Otieno accused the creditor of stealing motorcycles after you finish clearing the loan.

Here’s Quincy Otieno’s sad story:

“Bro, I’m so sad right now. Around April last year, niliamua kuchukua hii bike ya loan from WATU Africa. I paid a deposit of 15K and I have been struggling each day for the last 390 days to pay it off.

Yesterday at around 10:30p.m , I finally managed to finish paying off the loan. A whole 235K bro!!!!The company texted back acknowledging that I have cleared the loan.
This is one of the worst financial decisions I have ever made.

Yesterday, I came back home at around 5p.m and I parked the motorbike outside. At exactly 9:30pm , I did my usual routine and went to park it inside the plot where I stay. I parked it behind two other bikes. One other motorbike parks outside.

So today, naingia hustle at around 4:30a.m alafu to my disbelief, sioni bike!! I have never been this weak bro, wueh! 😭😭😭 I was so confused manze.

Immediately I went to the Maasai who guards the parking lot, I found them deep asleep. Nilichoka tu!! Asaad🏴‍☠️

I called the WATU CREDIT emergency line at 6:07 a.m to report the matter. They advised me to report to the nearest police station, of which I did. I was at Jogoo Rd Police Station by 6:30 am reporting the matter.

So, when I was reporting the issue at the station, to my surprise, there was another report of a stolen motorbike. The complainant had also cleared his loan around last week.

For anyone who knows a thing or two about “nduthis”, you have definitely heard about WATU CREDIT. They have trackers for all their motorbikes across the whole country. Try and default the loan for 2 months and I promise you, they will find you at your hiding spot.

Around December, I had given out the motorbike to a certain rider who decided to play smart. He disappeared with it and I did the same process they ask you when you report a missing bike.

Within two hours, they had called me back and told me the tracker indicated that the bike was in Nakuru and later on, it was in Siaya. Their emergency team helped me track it and I finally got hold of the rider.

I did the same process today. I duly followed everything their Emergency Team asked me to.

It’s been over 5 hours, I am calling their Emergency team for the past 2 hours and its not going through.

The last piece of communication their Emergency operator gave me, ” Quincy, kuwa mpole. We have allocated an officer to investigate the matter. He will be in touch”

I have so many questions about this matter.

There is a motorbike theft syndicate that works with WATU to steal motorcycles after you finish clearing the loan. This is not the first case. You have probably heard of a similar incident.

WATU CREDIT have unlimited access to their tracking services. I reported this matter and they have even refused to disclose to me when and where the tracker was last seen.

Please help me tag the police and all the relevant authorities,” he tweeted.

Otieno has now been left jobless and without a source of income.

Watu Africa is yet to issue statement on the incident.
